Whatz it with India retail business houses ...

Straight jump to the topic.

In India (and I may be generalizing very much here, but I don't think I'm wrong), when you buy something from a shop and are not satisfied with it, there's very little chance that you'll be able to hand it back and get cash for exchange. Note, I'm not saying you can hand it back, but that you can't get the cash even in case they are unable to find a suitable replacement for your item.

More often than not, you'd be given a credit note and asked to come back any time to buy anything else of your choice, but then, no cash back. And, that's strange, though I can very well understand the reason they'd prefer it that way ! :)

At least that's the majority case.

The key problem here is enforcement. If there is a significant increase in it, we could see the service improving.
