Intel readies tech-package (including WLAN) for Indian campuses

Chip giant Intel Corporation is entering the corridors of Indian universities — putting up technology centres, wireless LAN infrastructure, providing access to its R&D journals gratis, networking all IT departments with common standards and, of course, PCs — as part of “rapid deployable hardware packages”.

Intel’s world-wide sales chief, Jason Chen recently signed an agreement with UGC chairman, Dr Arun Nigavekar, to provide an integrated technology infrastructure that would help the 300-odd universities hold its own amidst international business schools that are cropping up.
